The Story of Jennie Low's
After 20 years of teaching Chinese cooking in the San Francisco Bay Area, I finally realized my dream of opening a restaurant serving home-style Chinese food, with good service in a pleasant atmosphere. The Mill Valley restaurant opened in 1987 and we have been blessed with loyal customers. In 1992 I opened a second Jennie Low's, located in Novato's Vintage Oaks Center. Again, we have enjoyed success and made many new friends. The Mill Valley restaurant is now closed, but a new restaurant in Petaluma was opened in August of 2007. My two daughters are my indispensable assistants - Cindy in the Petaluma location and Denise in Novato. Both restaurants feature traditional dishes from many regions of China, including Cantonese, Mandarin, Szechuan and Hunan, as well as more inventive ones using California's vast array of fresh foods. Recently we added the "Light Creations" - new recipes and modifications of the old favorites - responding to customers' requests for meals lower in fat. As always, I personally supervise preparation of all the sauces and seasonings, meticulously training my chefs so they can duplicate my special dishes. Please let me know if we can assist you in ordering your Chinese meal. In addition to the items on our regular menu, we offer daily specials, displayed on the chalkboard. If you don't see your favorite dish, let us know. Perhaps we can prepare it for you. We welcome your comments and suggestions. We also invite you to examine my cookbook, CHOPSTICKS, CLEAVER AND WOK - in print for 23 years. Autographed copies are available at the host station. Enjoy your meal, and please come back. |

Somewhat pricey for the quality. The flavors were pretty subdued. Which I can kind of expect for a chain Chinese restaurant. But I ordered the Kung Pao... read more.
